A LEGACY BRAND TAKES FLIGHT

Founded in 1961, Kenai Aviation provides private charter flights, flightseeing, and flight training for Alaskans and thrill seekers. Known for unparalleled safety, service and flexibility, Kenai Aviation brought a “Go Anywhere” mentality to the Kenai Peninsula to fill the need for private air travel in a state where few roads exist.

FLYING INTO THE STORM

Kenai Aviation expanded their fleet of aircraft at a time when most private air travel operators were downsizing. As the Covid pandemic froze travel and forced airlines to cut back, Kenai Aviation made a calculated decision to prepare for the future by investing in new routes throughout Alaska and beyond. They reached out to Divining Point to guide them through this transformation and position them to capitalize on pent up demand for air travel.

MAKING REPAIRS

The existing Kenai Aviation website showed its age. The design did not showcase the company’s storied past or full capabilities as a private air transportation company. The photos were outdated, and the website had no clear funnel for converting visitors into charters. The flightseeing and flight training pages not only lacked the necessary information to inspire action, the descriptions and offerings were also outdated and incomplete.

Divining Point reimagined the website by first considering the needs of the site visitor. We worked with Kenai Aviation to explore the proper messaging to compel a potential traveler or beginning pilot to take action. After rewriting the site’s copy and documenting the technical information about each aircraft, we sought to elevate the company’s profile with original photography of the company’s fleet.

PUTTING THE USER IN THE COCKPIT

We re-envisioned the user experience, expanded on the client’s service offerings, and produced a visually bold and exciting layout to capture the imagination of potential travelers and pilots seeking to expand their flight experience. Each technical detail about the aircraft was accurately presented, including range, service ceiling, engine type and capacity.

We also created a carousel of new designs for each of the service categories. Using a mix of original photography and graphic design, the new images spark the imagination of the site visitor while also encouraging them to learn more. The final result properly represents the legacy of Kenai Aviation and the expanded offerings from the company.

The Flightseeing page from the old website only listed two trips for travelers and tourists. The new website extended the list of offerings to include Harding Icefield and Seldovia Day Trip, Mount Denali, Lake Clark, and multiple excursions to see volcanoes, bears, Dall sheep, and the Chugach Mountain Range.

The new Flight Training page lists more information about the types of classes and skills acquired from Kenai Aviation, as well as an updated gallery of flight instructors and training fleet. By filling in the missing details, potential beginning pilots can discover not only what Kenai Aviation offers for flight school, but also which aircraft and instructors would take flight with them during this exciting new adventure in their careers.

CRUISING ALTITUDE

Kenai Aviation is now positioned to expand their reach within Alaska and define itself as the dominant force in air travel throughout the Last Frontier. As travelers and thrill seekers return and as demand for private charters increases, Kenai Aviation is prepared to grab market share in an industry that was grounded from the economic decline of 2020.
